Hearthstone Reveals StarCraft Mini-Set Details and Release Date

Hearthstone's upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st, boasts a record-breaking 49 new cards. This expansion, a crossover with Blizzard's StarCraft universe, introduces class and multi-class cards themed around the Zerg, Protoss, and Terran factions.

The Mini-Set's card distribution includes three cards per Hearthstone class, five faction-specific cards for each StarCraft race (one of which is a Legendary), and a single neutral Legendary card, Grunty. The Zerg cards (Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Warlock) emphasize swarming Zerglings and Hydralisk damage scaling. Protoss cards (Druid, Mage, Priest, Rogue) focus on mana manipulation to deploy powerful units like the Carrier. Terran cards (Paladin, Shaman, Warrior) leverage the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond expansion.

Acquiring the complete Mini-Set costs $20 (or 2500 gold), a $5 increase over previous Mini-Sets. A golden version is available for $80 (12,000 gold). Alternatively, individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) can be purchased for $10 (1200 gold).

To celebrate the release, Blizzard is hosting two streamed events:

  • StarCast (January 23, 10 AM PST): Featuring StarCraft pros TrumpSC and Day9.
  • HearthCraft (January 24, 9 AM PST): Showcasing Hearthstone community creators representing each StarCraft faction.

Watching these Twitch streams rewards viewers with four packs: two standard Great Dark Beyond packs and two golden Great Dark Beyond packs.
