Let's revisit our monthly Marvel Snap (Free) deck-building strategies, slightly delayed from last month. A fresh season brings new cards and shifts the meta. While last month saw a degree of balance, the new season promises upheaval. Remember, today's winning strategy might be obsolete tomorrow; these guides offer a snapshot, not a definitive roadmap.
These decks represent top-tier strategies, assuming a complete card collection. We'll cover five top-performing decks, plus a couple of more accessible, fun options.
The Young Avengers haven't drastically altered the landscape. Kate Bishop remains consistent, and Marvel Boy bolsters 1-cost Kazoo decks, but the others haven't significantly impacted the meta. However, the new Amazing Spider-Season and the Activate ability are game-changers, setting the stage for a dramatically different October.
Kazar and Gilgamesh
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird
Surprisingly, a Kazoo variant tops the charts, boosted by the Young Avengers. The core remains familiar: deploying low-cost cards then buffing with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy provides additional buffs, while Gilgamesh thrives in this environment. Kate Bishop offers Dazzler support and reduces Mockingbird's cost. A potent deck, but its longevity remains to be seen.
Silver Surfer Remains Unstoppable, Part II
Cards Included: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool
Silver Surfer maintains his dominance, with minor adjustments for balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo provides early boosts. Forge enhances Brood's clones, Gwenpool buffs cards in hand, Shaw benefits from buffs, Hope provides extra energy, Cassandra Nova drains opponent's power, and the Surfer/Absorbing Man combo delivers a powerful finish. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.
Spectrum and Man-Thing's Ongoing Dominance
Cards Included: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum
The Ongoing archetype also excels. This deck features cards with Ongoing abilities, amplified by Spectrum's final-turn buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing synergy is strong, with Luke protecting against US Agent. The deck's simplicity is a plus, and Cosmo's utility is likely to increase.
Discard Dracula Reigns
Cards Included: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse
A classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck, with Moon Knight's buff making him a valuable addition. Morbius and Dracula are the key cards, aiming for an endgame with only Apocalypse remaining, leading to a powerful Dracula and Morbius. Collector can provide unexpected benefits with sufficient Swarm plays.
The Undying Destroy Deck
Cards Included: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death
The Destroy deck remains largely unchanged, with Attuma's recent buff securing his place. The strategy focuses on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gaining extra energy with X-23, and finishing with Nimrod or Knull. Arnim Zola's absence reflects the increased prevalence of counter-strategies.
Here are a couple of more accessible and fun decks:
Darkhawk's Resurgence
Cards Included: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature
A Darkhawk-centric deck utilizing classic combos with Korg and Rockslide. It includes cards like Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova, alongside discard effects to reduce Stature's cost.
Budget-Friendly Kazar
Cards Included: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught
A beginner-friendly Kazar variant, lacking the power of the top-tier version but providing valuable experience with the core combo, culminating in a powerful Onslaught play.
This month's guide concludes. October's meta will likely shift due to the new season and potential balance changes. The Activate ability and Symbiote Spider-Man are major factors. The return of classic decks is noteworthy, but unlikely to persist. Until then, happy snapping!
