Firaxis Games Unveils Post-Launch Roadmap for Civilization VII
Firaxis Games recently detailed the post-launch roadmap for Sid Meier’s Civilization VII during a livestream event. The roadmap outlines substantial updates planned for 2025 and beyond, including paid DLC and free content updates.
The paid DLC will be delivered in collections. The first, "Crossroads of the World Collection," is a two-part release. Part one (early March) includes Leader Ada Lovelace, four Natural Wonders, and the Carthage and Great Britain civilizations. Part two (late March) features Leader Simon Bolivar and the Bulgaria and Nepal civilizations. Free content, including new Natural Wonder events and Wonders (Battle event and Bermuda Triangle in early March; Marvelous Mountains event and Mount Everest in late March), will also be released alongside these paid DLC drops.
Later in the year, the "Right Rule Collection" (summer release) will introduce two new leaders, four new civilizations, and four New World Wonders. Additional free content and updates are planned for April through September. Firaxis promises continued post-launch support from October 2025 onwards. Specific release dates for all announced content are yet to be revealed.
Further details, including plans for multiplayer enhancements (team support, larger lobbies, increased map variety), and modding tools, were shared in a developer diary blog post. These features are slated for release as soon as possible. The diary also highlighted upcoming bug fixes, balance adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements via regular updates.
The livestream also showcased multiplayer gameplay, demonstrating diverse victory strategies. A Q&A session addressed community questions.
