A Kindling Forest: A Solo Developer's Clever Auto-Runner
Dennis Berndtsson, a high school teacher moonlighting as a solo game developer, presents his latest creation: A Kindling Forest. This isn't your average action-adventure; it's a side-scrolling auto-runner brimming with innovative gameplay mechanics. Prepare for a thrilling journey filled with forests, arrows, and plenty of fiery lava!
The Game's Narrative
An ancient demon unleashes chaos upon the world, prompting forest spirits to awaken a long-forgotten archer. Armed with a bow and arrow, the archer embarks on a perilous quest to vanquish the demon. But this isn't a straightforward adventure.
Gameplay Mechanics
Constant movement is key. A Kindling Forest features relentless screen scrolling, presenting a continuous barrage of sharp, unpredictable obstacles. Players must skillfully dodge or shoot these hazards using their arrows.
Arrows are the archer's lifeblood, representing the forest spirits' aid. Running out of arrows means game over, making every shot crucial.
The game unfolds across five increasingly challenging levels. Expect to navigate treacherous spider webs, teleport through ancient ruins, soar through the clouds, and even brave rivers of molten lava.
Strategically placed checkpoints offer lifelines, allowing players to restart and refine their tactics after setbacks.
A unique split-screen interface enhances the gameplay. One half controls jumping, the other aiming and shooting, demanding precise timing. A brief slow-motion effect during aiming assists in precise shots.
