While eagerly awaiting the release of DOOM: The Dark Ages, many are revisiting the classic DOOM games. Good news! A recent update for the DOOM + DOOM 2 compilation has significantly enhanced the experience.
This update boasts improved technical stability and more. Crucially, it now supports multiplayer modifications created using Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21, or BOOM. Cooperative gameplay has been enhanced with shared item pickups and an observer mode for players awaiting revival. Multiplayer network code has also received optimization. Finally, the mod loader's capacity has been increased, handling more than the initial 100+ subscribed mods.
Looking ahead to DOOM: The Dark Ages, accessibility is a key focus. The game will offer unprecedented customization options, exceeding those in previous id Software titles. Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasizes the commitment to broad accessibility.
Players will have granular control over enemy damage and difficulty, projectile speed and damage, and even broader gameplay elements like pace, enemy aggression, and parry timing. Stratton also confirmed that prior DOOM experience isn't required to understand the narratives in DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal.
