Game Introduction

Tarneeb is a card game played by two teams of two players each, seated opposite one another. A standard 52-card deck is used, and play proceeds counter-clockwise. The objective is for each player to estimate the number of "Allmat" (tricks) their team can win in each round.

The player who wins the bid to declare "Tarneeb" (trump) initiates a round by discarding a type of paper onto the floor. Other players must then discard papers of the same type. The player who discards the highest-ranking paper wins the "Bamh" (trick). Tarneeb papers are the most powerful; however, a stronger Tarneeb paper beats a weaker one. The round concludes when all players have discarded.

Point accounting is crucial:

  • Successful Bid: If a team achieves or surpasses their bidded number of Allmat, they add the number of Allmat won to their score. The opposing team receives no points.
  • Unsuccessful Bid: If a team fails to reach their bidded number of Allmat, the number of Allmat they did win is deducted from their score, and the number of Allmat won by the opposing team is added to their score.

A special rule applies to bids of 13:

  • Winning a 13-Allmat Bid: If a team bids for and wins 13 Allmat, they receive 26 points.
  • Losing a 13-Allmat Bid: If a team bids for 13 Allmat and fails, they lose 16 points. Otherwise, a win without a 13-Allmat bid results in a 16-point gain.

The game ends when one team reaches a total score of 41 or more points, declaring them the winner.
