Assassin's Creed Shadows' March Release Date Confirmed
Ubisoft has announced a further delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this marks a five-week postponement from the previously revised release schedule.
The publisher cites the need to incorporate player feedback as the reason for the delay. This contrasts with the first delay, announced in September 2024, which shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th due to internal development challenges focused on historical accuracy.
In a statement, Marc-Alexis Coté, Vice President and Executive Producer of the Assassin's Creed franchise, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience through ongoing player engagement. He reiterated that the additional time will allow for further refinement and polishing of the game.
While Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and expansion access following the initial delay, no such compensation has yet been announced for this latest postponement. The shorter timeframe of this delay, however, might mitigate potential player dissatisfaction.
This second delay may also be linked to Ubisoft's ongoing internal investigation into its development practices. The company, despite its overall success, experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year, prompting an internal review focused on creating more "player-centric" games. Incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows could be a direct result of this initiative.
