Capcom has subtly teased Resident Evil 9 in a recent celebratory video for reaching 10 million players with Resident Evil 4. The short video, uploaded to social media on April 25, features Ada Wong engaging in a conversation with a well-known villain, followed by scenes of Leon surrounded by an infected horde wearing party hats as they approach a church.
The video then shifts to a rock song, showcasing Dr. Salvador amusingly playing his chainsaw as if it were a guitar, with the camera panning to reveal a fist-pumping Leon. Behind him, a rustic sign reads "Thank you for playing."

However, eagle-eyed fans noticed something intriguing when the "Thank you for playing" sign is turned on its side. The planks form the Roman numeral "IX," representing the number 9. While this could be dismissed as a coincidence, horror game leaker Dusk Golem highlighted that the lower plank on the sign was not present in earlier parts of the video, suggesting its addition was intentional.
"I know what you did here," one surprised responder commented, accompanied by a wide-eyed emoji.
Capcom has also confirmed that the next mainline entry in the *Resident Evil* series, presumably *Resident Evil 9*, will be directed by Koshi Nakanishi, the director of *Resident Evil 7*."It was really difficult to figure out what to do after [Resident Evil 7]," Nakanishi stated at the time. "But I found it, and to be honest, it feels substantial. I can't share any details just yet, but I hope you're excited for the day I can." Rumors suggest, though not confirmed, that the setting may be an island inspired by Singapore.
