When it comes to racing, it seems that nowadays everything is geared towards experts and enthusiasts in the genre. Even something like Mario Kart, I'd argue, is far more the purview of hardcore kart-racing aficionados than kids and families. Fortunately, if you're looking for a good introduction to ease your tots into the world of racing, maybe Big-Bobby-Car - The Big Race will prove suitable.
If you're not familiar with Big-Bobby-Car, you're probably not a parent or a toddler. For those of you who are either of those, in the latter case, you should apply to MENSA, you'll easily recognise these bright plastic scooters. The Big-Bobby-Car toys(?) are a favourite gift for toddlers who can scoot around on them without much risk of falling over.
So, while Big-Bobby-Car is supposed to be for all ages, I doubt you'd find much enjoyment in it if you're able to eat solid foods. But for those with an open mind, you'll find an equally open world to explore, with 40 missions to complete, races to compete in and the ability to create and customise your own Big-Bobby-Car.
Round and aroundAgain, this is definitely more something for kids than for adults. But at the same time, as I wrote in the intro, it's nice to see something that you can use to ease your kids into the world of gaming without worrying about micro-transactions or the violent and often ill-tempered world of multiplayer. Whether that means it'll hold up for someone with more discerning tastes is anyone's guess.
