29 Card Game (also known as 28 Card Game, with minor rule variations) is a South Asian trick-taking game where Jacks and Nines are the highest cards in each suit. Typically played by four players in fixed partnerships (partners facing each other), it uses 32 cards from a standard deck. The four suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades) each contain eight cards ranked J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7. The goal is to win tricks with high-value cards. Card values are: Jacks - 3 points each; Nines - 2 points each; Aces - 1 point each; Tens - 1 point each; other cards (K, Q, 8, 7) - 0 points. This totals 28 points; some versions add a point for the last trick, resulting in 29 (hence the name). Many players omit the last trick point, yet the game remains known as 29.
Traditionally, Twos, Threes, Fours, and Fives (removed from the deck) serve as trump indicators, with each player receiving one of each suit. Sixes are used for scorekeeping; each partnership uses one red and one black Six.
