A standard domino set typically contains 28 tiles, but some variations exist (double-9 and double-12 sets for games like Mexican Train and Chicken Foot). Different countries have their own favored games: England (Muggins), Scandinavia (Bergen), Mexico (Mexican Train), and Spain (Matador).
Dominoes originated in Song Dynasty China. They arrived in Italy in the 18th century, though the exact evolution of the game remains unclear.
Gameplay Overview:
Blocking Games: Two players typically use a double-six set. Tiles are drawn, and players take turns placing tiles to extend a line of play, matching numbers. The game ends when a player uses all their tiles or the game is blocked.
Scoring Games: Points are awarded for various tile configurations or emptying one's hand. Variations like Muggins (multiples of five) and Bergen (matching end numbers) exist.
Draw Games: Players can draw additional tiles from the stock before placing a tile. The score is the sum of pips in the losing player's hand and the stock.
Mexican Train: This popular variant is now included, with online multiplayer coming soon!
