- Cut Mode: If no trump suit is chosen at the start, the first player unable to follow suit during play determines the trump suit for the round.
In both modes, the highest card of the trump suit played to a trick wins it. If no trump cards are played, the highest card of the suit led wins the trick. The winner of each trick leads the next one, and all captured tricks are kept in a face-down pile by the winner.
The ultimate goal is to capture tricks containing tens. If a partnership manages to secure three or four of the tens, they win the hand. Capturing all four tens is known as a Mendicot, marking a significant achievement in the game.
