Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series, although yet to premiere, has already been greenlit for two seasons, as revealed by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Moore stepped in to lead the project following the exit of former showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus. In a recent chat with Katee Sackhoff, a fellow alum from the iconic series Battlestar Galactica, Moore shared insights into his current endeavors.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, which is a major title in the gaming world," Moore explained. "Amazon has committed to two seasons, and they've brought me on board. I'm currently in the writer's room, fully immersed in this project. It's my new focus."

Interestingly, Moore confessed that he isn't a gamer by nature, though he has dabbled in classics like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede. He humorously recounted his struggles with modern gaming controls, saying, "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead."
For the God of War series, Moore has taken on multiple roles, including writer, executive producer, and showrunner. His impressive resume includes work on Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, and he notably served as showrunner for the critically acclaimed 2000s reboot of Battlestar Galactica.
Despite some changes in the production team, Sony's Cory Barlog remains involved as an executive producer. While details about the series are still emerging, it is confirmed that the show will be based on the critically acclaimed 2018 God of War game.
Amazon's swift decisions to renew other video game adaptations like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level following successful launches suggest a promising future for God of War on their streaming platform.
