Running a livestock farm in *Fields of Mistria* can be lucrative, but the daily chore of petting your animals can quickly become tedious. Fortunately, there's a solution: an auto-petter mod! While the base game doesn't include this feature, modding opens up exciting possibilities.

The *Animal Friends* mod by annanomoly on Nexus Mods is your answer. This handy mod not only automates petting but also handles feeding your livestock. However, remember that you'll need the *Mods of Mistria Installer*—it's a prerequisite for this mod to work correctly.
Here's how to install the *Animal Friends* mod:
- Create a new folder named "Mods" within your *Fields of Mistria* game files.
- Download the *AnimalFriends.zip* file and place it inside the "Mods" folder.
- Extract the contents of the zip file. You can then delete or move the original zip file.
- Run the *Mods of Mistria Installer* to install the mod.
The *Animal Friends* mod offers several customizable features beyond auto-petting. You can enable auto-feeding, a friendship multiplier, and a feature to prevent friendship loss. The multiplier increases the number of hearts your animals gain, while preventing friendship loss ensures those hearts stay put.
To adjust settings, locate the *AnimalFriends.json* file within the extracted mod folder. This file is a simple text document. To enable a feature, change "false" to "true". For example, to enable auto-petting, modify the line to: ["auto-pet": true]
. Disabling a feature is just as easy—simply change "true" back to "false".
The friendship multiplier works slightly differently. Instead of "true" or "false," enter a numerical value between 1 and 100. Setting it to 100 bypasses the bonding process; setting it to 1 disables the multiplier.
Note: The mod's default settings initially deactivate auto-petting and auto-feeding. However, it does multiply heart points gained from petting by five and automatically activates the prevent friendship loss feature.
To remove the mod, avoid simply deleting the folder. Instead, use the *Mods of Mistria Installer* to uninstall it properly. This prevents potential save file corruption or errors.
That’s it! You now have an auto-petter in *Fields of Mistria*. Remember to back up your save file before installing any mods, even if they're generally stable. It's always a good precaution.
*Fields of Mistria* is available on PC.
