How Many Batman Arkham Games Are There?

The Batman Arkhamverse encompasses a total of 10 games. However, only eight of these are currently accessible, as two mobile titles have been discontinued and removed from app stores.

Which Batman Arkham Game Should You Play First?

For newcomers, there are two primary ways to start your journey through the Batman Arkham series. If you prefer to follow the story in chronological order, begin with 2013's Batman: Arkham Origins. However, be aware that playing Origins first might spoil elements of the earlier released games. Alternatively, if you want to experience the series as it was released, start with Batman: Arkham Asylum.

Batman Arkham Games in Chronological Order

We've outlined two approaches to playing the Batman: Arkham games: by release date or by narrative chronology. Both paths are detailed below, with brief plot summaries designed to be spoiler-light for newcomers.

  1. Batman: Arkham Origins

The first game in the chronological timeline is 2013's Batman: Arkham Origins. Set on a snowy Christmas Eve in Gotham, it features a less-experienced Batman facing a $50 million bounty on his head, attracting Gotham's most notorious criminals like the Joker, Black Mask, and Bane. The game's ending teases the reopening of Arkham Asylum, setting the stage for future events. Notably, Roger Craig Smith and Troy Baker voice Batman and the Joker, respectively, in this title developed by WB Montreal. A mobile version, a brawler by NeatherRealm, also exists but plays differently while hitting the same narrative points.
