The “Canker” side quest in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* is an early-game opportunity to earn some extra loot and Groschen. To begin, you’ll first need to complete “The Jaunt.” Here’s how to tackle “Canker”:

Picking Up the “Canker” Side Quest

To start this quest, speak with Gules in Semine. Conveniently, you can initiate this quest during Lord Semine and Agnes’ wedding, while Gules is enjoying a drink. However, you can also find him on patrol in Semine beforehand. Simply ask him about his former bandit gang and offer your assistance in dealing with them. Canker is your first target.

Finding and Killing Canker

Upon accepting the quest, Canker’s location will appear on your map, north of Nebakov Mill. Be warned: the path is often patrolled by bandits who may ambush you. You can choose to stealthily avoid them, engage in combat, or simply run past. While these bandits aren’t overly challenging, skirmishes can deplete your health before the main quest encounter.

Canker’s bandit camp is nestled within the mountains, easily missed due to a narrow passage. Similar to accessing the Hermit’s house in “Wedding Crashers,” you’ll need to find this hidden path. Prepare for combat before entering, as several bandits, including Canker, will be present.

Note that some bandits may flee depending on the order you eliminate them. However, most will need to be defeated, so don't assume you can avoid all combat. Fortunately, Canker himself will not run, ensuring you can complete the objective.

Completing the Quest and Returning to Gules

Once Canker and the other bandits are defeated, loot Canker’s body. You must acquire the Light Mace, though you’re free to take other items as well. Return to Gules with the mace to complete the quest.

After finishing “Canker,” wait a full in-game day before continuing with Gules’ questline. Speak to him again after this delay to begin “Handsome Charlie.”
