Deltarune's Console Testing Going Smoothly
In a recent post on his official Bluesky account, Toby Fox provided an update on the console testing for Deltarune. He mentioned that while there's still a significant amount of work ahead, the process is moving forward smoothly. "Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet)," Fox stated. He also revealed that the team is working on a feature to allow players to transfer their saves from the demo (Chapters 1 and 2) to the full game on console versions. This feature, which they've only recently been able to implement, is something Fox hopes will work seamlessly. "I hope it works!" he added optimistically.
With the beta testing showing promising results, the release of Deltarune's Chapters 3 and 4 could be imminent. Toby Fox has confirmed that these chapters are set to launch sometime in 2025.
Fox Namedrops New Character, Tenna
Despite the heavy workload involved in preparing Chapters 3 and 4 for release, Toby Fox continues to engage with fans through entertaining mini-updates. Known for his clever use of internet memes and his humorous, self-deprecating style, Fox recently shared a light-hearted anecdote on social media. "I showed my family and friends a minigame I've been working on for DR (Deltarune) and they all described it as ‘a cry for help because your game is not out’," he posted. He added that while his family saw it as a positive sign, his friend couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes.
This update sparked speculation among fans, especially since Fox had previously mentioned in 2024 that the content for Chapters 3 and 4 was complete. Some believe the minigame might be a sneak peek at content for the upcoming Chapter 5, as Deltarune is planned to have seven chapters in total.
In the same post, Fox also mentioned a friend who had played Chapter 3 over a year ago and expressed missing a character named Tenna. Fox humorously remarked, "man that's something no one in the world has ever said huh." Tenna, a character yet to be officially introduced in Deltarune, was first seen during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign on the game's official website in September 2022, which supported the Child’s Play charity. Fox's mention of Tenna confirms that this mysterious character will indeed appear in Chapter 3.
Deltarune serves as a parallel and successor to the beloved 2015 game Undertale, incorporating many of its mechanics and quirks while introducing a fresh narrative and new characters. Players will join Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on an epic quest to save the world.
