Longtime fans of the *Dragon Quest* series know its vast library of games and spin-offs. One often-overlooked entry, the MMORPG-style *Dragon Quest X*, is finally getting a mobile release—in Japan, at least. Starting tomorrow, Japanese players can download the offline version of *Dragon Quest X* on iOS and Android devices for a discounted price.
As reported by Gematsu, this mobile release offers a single-player experience, a departure from the original online-only format. Interestingly, a mobile port was initially planned way back in 2013 by Ubitu, but never materialized. The offline version, released in 2022 for consoles and PC, finally brings this unique *Dragon Quest* experience to mobile.
Unlike other *Dragon Quest* games, *Dragon Quest X* features real-time combat and other MMORPG elements, a significant departure for the series. The offline version, released in 2022 for consoles and PC, provides a standalone adventure.
Unfortunately, a global release isn't currently confirmed. The original *Dragon Quest X* was Japan-exclusive, and while a mobile offline version is exciting news for Japanese players, international availability remains uncertain.
As a dedicated *Dragon Quest* fan (with fond memories of *Sentinels of the Starry Skies*), I'm personally hoping for a wider release. The chance to experience even a different version of the series on mobile would be fantastic.
