If you're a fan of the classic strategy game ROME: Total War on Android, you're in for a treat. Feral Interactive has just released the massive Imperium Update, enhancing the gameplay experience with a variety of tweaks, control improvements, and quality-of-life features. This update, which hit Android devices first, will also roll out to the standalone expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, next week.
What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?
The Imperium Update incorporates some of the most beloved features from Feral's newer mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Players can now enjoy three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, which enhance unit command and battle precision.
With these new modes, you can easily manage your army, agents, or fleets by simply tapping and holding, rather than manually dragging paths. Positioning Mode allows for precise unit placement through tap-and-hold actions, while the Group Grid feature simplifies unit group management with a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode enables ranged units to switch to close combat when necessary, adding tactical depth to your battles.
One of the standout features is Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game when issuing complex orders, making it easier to strategize. For the first time, ROME: Total War on Android (and iPad) now supports keyboard and mouse, enhancing the control experience significantly.
The minimap has been revamped to resemble that of MEDIEVAL II, featuring smoother zooming and navigation. A new reset button allows for quick returns to the default view, improving usability.
The Imperium Update is now available for ROME: Total War on Android through the Google Play Store. Make sure to install it to experience these enhancements. Keep an eye out for the updates coming to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week.
