Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 actor Ned Luke assures fans that the highly anticipated GTA 6 is worth the wait, even offering a bold prediction for its first-day sales. Read on to discover more about what to expect from GTA 6 and its development.
Rockstar Games: A Surprise Awaits in GTA 6
GTA 5 Actor Predicts $1.3 Billion First-Day Sales for GTA 6
Ned Luke, the voice of Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts that GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with YouTube channel Fall Damage, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's success, highlighting Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
He emphasized patience, assuring fans, "What I tell people is, be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He referenced GTA 5's impressive $800 million first-day earnings in 2013, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that figure. This prediction aligns with DFC Intelligence's projection of over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in revenue during the game's first year, with a billion dollars attributed solely to pre-orders.
The Return of Familiar Faces: GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6?
Luke also offered insight into the possibility of GTA 5 characters appearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He noted that his character, Michael, has been absent from GTA Online since its launch, unlike Trevor and Franklin.
Luke hinted at Michael's possible return, perhaps in a final DLC for GTA Online or even a cameo in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested Trevor's death as a "passing the torch" moment (as reported by ScreenRant in January 2025), Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything. And if we say anything, you know they will not be very happy." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, no official confirmation regarding their characters' appearances in GTA 6 has been made.
GTA 6: Entering the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. According to GamesRadar, in a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, York described the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it, you know? You really don't."
He believes GTA 6 is in the in-house testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras," suggesting the game is at least playable and may have already undergone extensive internal testing.
Rockstar Games unveiled GTA 6 with a trailer in December 2023, but has remained tight-lipped since. While a Fall 2025 release was previously speculated based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report, no official release date has been announced.
