KEMCO's latest Android release, Novel Rogue, is a captivating pixel-art fantasy JRPG with roguelite elements and card deck-building mechanics. This enchanting adventure plunges players into the magical worlds contained within four ancient books.
Players assume the role of Wright, a young apprentice under the tutelage of Yuisil, the Witch of Portals, within the Ancient Library. Wright's journey involves delving into each book's unique narrative, each transporting him to a distinct realm.
One book leads to a quest assisting a princess knight in reclaiming her fallen kingdom, while another unveils the mysteries of the underworld. The dynamic nature of the game ensures that choices significantly impact these worlds, guaranteeing a unique experience with every playthrough.
Gameplay Mechanics:
Novel Rogue's core gameplay revolves around a turn-based card battle system that adapts to the chosen book. Each of the four worlds presents its own deck-building system. After each battle, players strategically select three new cards from a selection to refine their deck.
A "Change" command allows players to redistribute damage among allies, adding a layer of tactical depth. "Novel Power," fueled by ink, enhances deck strength. For a challenging experience, "Deep Record" mode dramatically increases dungeon difficulty.
Relationship building is also a key element. Players collect treasures to gift characters, fostering bonds that unlock special endings. Aesthetic customization is possible through "Witch Stones," allowing players to alter character costumes.
Novel Rogue is available for free on the Google Play Store. A premium version offers 150 bonus Witch Stones and additional benefits, including an ad-free experience.
