Capcom has announced an extension for the Monster Hunter Wilds beta following a 24-hour outage of the PlayStation Network (PSN) that disrupted the previous testing session. The PSN went offline around 3pm PT on Friday, February 7, and remained down for about a day. Sony attributed the issue to an "operational problem" and, in response, extended PlayStation Plus memberships by an additional five days for all members.
The outage significantly impacted online gaming, including single-player games requiring server authentication or a constant internet connection. Among the affected titles was the highly anticipated second beta for Monster Hunter Wilds, scheduled from Thursday, February 6, to Sunday, February 9. In light of this, Capcom has decided to extend the next beta session by 24 hours. The new session will now run from Thursday, February 13, at 7pm PT / Friday, February 14, at 3am GMT, until Monday, February 17, at 6:59pm PT / Tuesday, February 18, at 2:59am GMT.
During this extended period, players will still have the opportunity to earn participation bonuses that will carry over to the full version of the game, Capcom confirmed. Despite the previous downtime, participants were able to engage with Monster Hunter Wilds' challenging new adversary, Arkveld.
Monster Hunter Wilds is set to launch on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For more details on Capcom's latest hunting adventure, check out our IGN First coverage, including our Monster Hunter Wilds Final Preview [ttpp].
