NetherRealm Studios has unveiled the first gameplay footage of the T-1000, a thrilling new DLC guest character for Mortal Kombat 1. The T-1000's moveset is reminiscent of iconic scenes from Terminator 2, showcasing attacks such as blade and hook arms that fans of the film will instantly recognize. These moves bear similarities to those of Mortal Kombat characters Baraka and Kabal, while a transformation into a liquid metal blob and an uppercut akin to Glacius from Killer Instinct add unique flair.
The T-1000 is brought to life with the voice and likeness of actor Robert Patrick, who originally portrayed the character in the 1991 film. In the gameplay teaser, Patrick's voice adds authenticity as the T-1000 clashes with Johnny Cage. The teaser culminates in a striking Fatality that recreates the intense truck chase from Terminator 2, where the T-1000 morphs into a liquid form to mercilessly attack Cage.
In addition to the T-1000, NetherRealm announced that Madam Bo, a fan-favorite from the base *Mortal Kombat 1* story, will join the game as a DLC Kameo fighter. Known for her role as a tough elderly restaurant owner, Madam Bo's brief appearance in the teaser shows her assisting the T-1000 during a fight with Johnny Cage. Both the T-1000 and Madam Bo will be available starting March 18 for players who own the Khaos Reigns expansion during the early access period. The T-1000 will be available for wider purchase on March 25, while Madam Bo can be obtained as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners or as a standalone purchase.
The T-1000 marks the final character addition to Mortal Kombat 1 under the Khaos Reigns expansion, joining other notable fighters like Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Ghostface, and Conan the Barbarian. Speculation continues regarding the possibility of a third set of DLC characters or a Kombat Pack 3, especially in light of questions about the game's sales performance.
Despite this, Warner Bros. Discovery remains committed to the Mortal Kombat franchise. In November, CEO David Zaslav confirmed plans to focus on four key titles, including Mortal Kombat. Ed Boon, the chief of Mortal Kombat development, has also assured fans that NetherRealm will continue to support Mortal Kombat 1 for the foreseeable future, even as they plan their next project.
