Netflix has enlisted the talents of T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his contributions to the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad, who was initially involved in adapting Sifu's story, might still have a role, his current involvement remains uncertain.
The project has also attracted high-caliber talent with Chad Stahelski, the visionary director behind the John Wick series, joining as an executive producer alongside his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment. Stahelski is simultaneously working on another much-anticipated video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima, highlighting his growing influence in the genre.
Sifu, released in 2022, swiftly captured the gaming world's attention, surpassing one million sales within just three weeks. The game immerses players in the journey of a young martial artist driven by vengeance for their master's murder. Equipped with a mystical pendant that revives them after death but ages them significantly, the protagonist navigates a perilous path filled with danger and intrigue.
