Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki unveiled a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has issued a statement clarifying the situation. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper report Nintendo's confirmation that the images and videos circulating are unofficial. The company explicitly denies providing Genki with any Switch 2 hardware.
Genki, an American manufacturer of electronics and gaming accessories (controllers, SSDs, chargers, etc.), generated significant buzz by showcasing the mockup and allegedly revealing a "real" Switch 2 unit along with a purported release date. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with a detailed animated mockup of the console.
This contradicts Nintendo's official stance, which remains that details regarding the Switch 2 will be revealed at a later date. The only confirmed feature, according to Nintendo, is backward compatibility with Switch 1 games. Given Genki's claims, Nintendo's official announcement of the Switch 2 may be imminent.
