Palworld Update 0.5.0 Adds Crossplay Across All Platforms, Blueprint Upgrading, Photo Mode and More

Author : Harper Mar 21,2025

Palworld's massive v0.5.0 update introduces cross-platform play, a game-changer for players across all platforms. This update also significantly enhances Pal management with the Global Palbox, a new storage system boasting ten times the capacity of the standard Palbox. Guild members gain access, and private settings allow for personal use.

Beyond Pal storage, players can now enjoy character customization with the new cosmetic armor system (transmog), allowing appearance changes without affecting stats. A highly requested photo mode has arrived, alongside blueprint upgrading and dedicated servers for Mac users. PlayStation 5 dedicated servers are in development.

Since its January 2024 early access launch, Palworld has attracted an incredible 32 million players. Pocketpair has unveiled an ambitious content roadmap for 2025, including a planned "ending scenario" and further content additions for this hugely popular creature-catching survival game. Its initial launch on Steam ($30) and Game Pass (Xbox and PC) broke sales and concurrent player records. The game's success, however, presented unforeseen challenges for Pocketpair, as CEO Takuro Mizobe stated the studio was overwhelmed by the massive profits generated. Despite this, Pocketpair swiftly capitalized on Palworld’s success, forming Palworld Entertainment with Sony to expand the IP and bring the game to PS5.

The company currently faces a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company alleging patent infringement. Pocketpair has responded, specifying the patents in question, and has already made adjustments to Pal summoning mechanics. The studio has pledged to vigorously defend its position in court.
