Every Pokémon Game on the Nintendo Switch in 2025

Author : Chloe Mar 16,2025

Pokémon, a global media powerhouse and Nintendo mainstay since the Game Boy era, boasts a vast universe of captivating creatures. From in-game adventures to collectible cards, each generation expands this beloved franchise, introducing countless new Pokémon to discover. Every Nintendo console has seen its share of Pokémon titles, and the Nintendo Switch is no exception. With Nintendo's official Switch 2 announcement confirming backwards compatibility, you can confidently purchase existing Switch Pokémon games knowing they'll be playable on the new system.

Below, we've compiled every Pokémon game released on the Nintendo Switch, along with information on upcoming titles slated for the Switch 2.

How Many Pokémon Games Are on Nintendo Switch?

A total of 12 Pokémon games have graced the Nintendo Switch. This includes mainline entries from generations 8 and 9, plus numerous spin-offs. For this list, we've counted dual-version mainline games as single releases and excluded Pokémon games available via Nintendo Switch Online (see that list below).

Note: 2024 marked a hiatus for new Pokémon game releases—over a year since the last release and two years since the last mainline title. Instead, The Pokémon Company launched *Pokémon TCG Pocket*, a hugely successful free-to-play mobile card game. While not on the Switch, it's a must-try for Pokémon fans.

What Pokémon Game Should You Get in 2024?

If you're seeking a Switch Pokémon game in 2024, I recommend Pokémon Legends: Arceus. While it deviates from classic Pokémon gameplay, it offers a refreshing experience. Legends: Arceus introduces action-RPG elements, open-world exploration, greater encounter control, and polished handheld gameplay.
