Pokemon TCG Pocket's Community Showcase: A Visual Critique
Players of Pokemon TCG Pocket are expressing disappointment with the Community Showcase feature's visual presentation. While appreciating the feature's concept, many find the display of cards alongside sleeves underwhelming and visually unappealing due to excessive empty space.
Pokemon TCG Pocket successfully translates the core mechanics of the physical Pokemon trading card game to a mobile platform, allowing free-to-play battles and public card showcases. The Community Showcase, intended as a platform to show off collections, has however, fallen short of expectations for many players.
Reddit discussions highlight the key complaint: cards are displayed as small icons beside their sleeves, rather than within them, as many players would prefer. This has led to criticism, with some suggesting developer DeNA prioritized expediency over aesthetics, while others speculate the design aims to encourage closer examination of each display.
Currently, there are no announced plans to address these visual concerns. However, future updates promise enhanced social features, including a highly anticipated virtual card trading system. This suggests a focus on other social aspects of the game, at least for the immediate future.
