Two types of allies can be recruited. Some enhance your Hideout, like the blacksmith who upgrades equipment. Others serve as combat companions with upgradeable abilities.

Once recruited, manage combat allies in the Hideout or unlocked kakuregas. Summoning them unleashes their skill; they fight until defeated or all enemies are eliminated. Building a dojo lets you level them up, allowing two allies at a time.

While allies are optional and missable, extra support is always welcome.

These non-combat allies join via main and side quests: Tomiko ("An Unpayable Debt"), Junjiro ("From Spark to Flame"), Heiji (Blacksmith) ("Way of the Blacksmith"). The following are combat allies.

Yaya

This Buddhist monk appears in the main quest, "The Fatherless Monk." Prioritizing justice over violence, Yaya mirrors Yasuke's values.

Yaya's abilities:

  • Initiate: Knocks down an enemy.
  • Veteran: Powerful kick to send enemies flying.

Gennojo

Flirt and assure him of his convictions. In "The Godless Harvest," prevent the explosive option and convince him to join.

Gennojo's abilities:

  • Novice: Enters with a shock bomb.
  • Initiate: Distraction to draw enemy attention.
