Following a minor leak last week, EA has officially announced the title of its upcoming Star Wars game, along with the development team behind it. The game is named Star Wars: Zero Company, and it is being crafted by the newly-formed studio Bit Reactor, with additional support from Lucasfilm Games and Respawn.
Details on Star Wars: Zero Company remain sparse, but we know it will be a single-player, turn-based tactics game. Fans won't have to wait long for more information, as EA has promised a first look at the game on April 19 during Star Wars Celebration in Japan.
Bit Reactor, founded in 2022, is a strategy game studio composed of industry veterans from renowned titles such as XCOM, Civilization, Gears of War, and Elder Scrolls Online. Although it was known that Bit Reactor was collaborating with Respawn on a Star Wars project, this marks the first time we've received concrete details about Zero Company.
The extent of Respawn's involvement in Star Wars: Zero Company remains somewhat ambiguous. Respawn has faced numerous challenges recently, including the cancellation of their own Star Wars FPS project last year, coupled with significant layoffs at EA, and the termination of another multiplayer FPS project just last month.
Further insights into Star Wars: Zero Company will be shared during a live panel on Saturday, April 19 at 4:30pm local time in Japan. For those in the U.S., that translates to 12:30am PT and 3:30am ET, so make sure to set your alarms accordingly.
