Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Now the Worst User-Reviewed GTA on Steam

Author : Stella Mar 14,2025

Rockstar's enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto 5, launched in March, hasn't received the enthusiastic welcome expected on Steam. The "Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Edition" boasts a mixed user review rating, with only 54% of the 19,772 reviews positive. This contrasts sharply with the original GTA 5's "very positive" rating (now unlisted on Steam at Rockstar's request). In fact, this enhanced edition currently holds the unenviable title of worst-reviewed GTA game on Steam, lagging behind even Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition (66% positive reviews).

This free upgrade for PC players includes features previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA Online: Hao's Special Works upgrades, new vehicles, animal encounters, and GTA+ Membership access. It also boasts improved graphics and faster loading times, along with the ability to migrate Story Mode and Online progress.

However, account migration issues are causing significant frustration, dominating negative reviews. Many players report encountering the error message: “The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not eligible for migration at this time.” This has led to angry responses, with players threatening to abandon hundreds of hours of gameplay. The inability to migrate accounts is a major source of criticism, with many expressing disappointment and frustration with Rockstar's support.

Despite these issues, GTA 5 Enhanced remains incredibly popular on Steam, peaking at 187,059 concurrent players since launch. Nevertheless, the problems have raised concerns about the upcoming PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6, fueling anxieties among PC gamers about potential launch difficulties.
