Troubleshooting "Serialization Error Action Needed" in Ready or Not
1. Verify Game Files:
This is the first troubleshooting step. Ensure Steam isn't in offline mode. In your Steam Library:
- Right-click Ready or Not.
- Select "Properties".
- Click "Local Files".
- Choose "Verify Integrity of Game Files".
Steam will scan and replace any corrupted or missing files. Retry launching the game. If successful, the problem is solved. Otherwise, proceed to the next steps.
2. Disable Mods:
Outdated or incompatible mods, especially those not updated for Unreal Engine 5 (post-July 2024), are frequent culprits. To remove mods:
- Locate Ready or Not in your Steam Library.
- Click "Manage," then "Browse Local Files".
- Navigate to
ReadyorNot\Content\Paks
. - Delete the
mod.io
folder.
This will allow the game to run without mods. However, you'll need to reinstall compatible mods later.
3. Reinstall Mods Selectively:
Reinstall mods one at a time, checking for compatibility. Visit Nexus Mods, Mod.io, or your mod source:
- Check the mod's last update date. Only install mods updated after July 2024 (UE5 update).
- Install a single mod, launch the game. If the error returns, the newly installed mod is the problem. Skip that mod.
4. Clean Reinstall (Last Resort):
If all else fails, uninstall and reinstall Ready or Not completely. While less likely, hard drive corruption could also be a factor. However, outdated mods are the most common cause of this error.
Ready or Not is available on PC.
