Star Wars: Hunters has made headlines by announcing its shutdown before even reaching its first anniversary. However, the game will still celebrate its one-year milestone before officially closing down. This raises the question: is it worth celebrating the anniversary of a game that's on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for Star Wars: Hunters are set to shut down on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the game's journey just nine months after its launch. Players have until April 15th to wrap up Season 5, as the season concludes on that date.Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, is rolling out a final content update on April 15th, introducing the last new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. On the same day, in-game purchases will be disabled.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers go offline, and events from the season will be rerun. Players with unspent Crystals should use them before the shutdown, as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
While it's disappointing, the shutdown of Star Wars: Hunters doesn't come as a surprise. The game faced numerous challenges from the outset. Announced in 2020, it experienced multiple delays and limited beta testing in the SEA and ANZAC regions. The combination of a delayed launch, absence of major console support, and a tepid reception contributed to the game's downfall. Even the game's design missed the mark by opting for generic original characters rather than leveraging the iconic figures from the Star Wars universe.
If you've uninstalled the game but are considering one last playthrough, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown date.
