Steam Deck Game Reviews & Impressions
NBA 2K25 Steam Deck Review
NBA 2K25 marks a significant milestone for PC gamers. It's the first time since the PS5 launch that the PC version mirrors the next-gen console experience, boasting ProPLAY technology and the WNBA debut. Officially optimized for Steam Deck (though not yet officially rated by Valve), the game delivers a satisfying experience despite some typical 2K quirks.
The PC and Steam Deck versions support 16:10 and 800p resolutions, along with AMD FSR 2, DLSS, and XeSS (though I found disabling these improved clarity). Extensive graphics settings allow for significant customization, enabling players to fine-tune visuals for optimal performance. I recommend a 60fps cap at 60hz for the best balance of visuals and stability. While the default Steam Deck preset is functional, tweaking settings yields a sharper image.
Offline play is partially supported; quick play and eras are accessible offline, but modes like MyCAREER and MyTEAM require an internet connection. Load times are noticeably slower than on PS5 or Xbox Series X, even with an SSD. Cross-play with consoles is absent. The persistent issue of microtransactions remains a concern, particularly for certain game modes. Despite these drawbacks, the portable basketball experience is excellent.
NBA 2K25 Steam Deck review score: 4/5
Gimmick! 2 Steam Deck Impressions
Gimmick! 2, while not yet Valve-tested, runs flawlessly on the Steam Deck. A recent patch included Steam Deck and Linux fixes. The game is capped at 60fps (forcing 60hz on OLED screens is recommended to prevent jitter), and while lacking graphical options, it correctly supports 16:10 resolution in menus (gameplay remains 16:9). Its smooth performance suggests imminent Steam Deck Verified status.
Arco Steam Deck Mini Review
Arco, a dynamic turn-based RPG, shines on Steam Deck with its updated build. The game's blend of real-time and turn-based elements, along with its compelling story and visuals, creates a unique and engaging experience. Steam Deck Verified, it runs smoothly at 60fps (16:9 only) and includes an assist mode for those seeking a less challenging playthrough.
Arco Steam Deck review score: 5/5
Skull and Bones Steam Deck Mini Review
Recently added to Steam, Skull and Bones is playable on the Steam Deck (rated "Playable" by Valve). While the initial Ubisoft Connect login process is somewhat slow, the game runs well at 30fps (16:10, 800p) with FSR 2 quality upscaling and low settings (textures set to high). Early impressions are positive, suggesting potential with continued developer support. The game is online-only.

ODDADA Steam Deck Review
ODDADA, a music-creation tool, offers a visually appealing and intuitive experience on Steam Deck, running perfectly at 90fps with touch controls. While currently lacking controller support, its touch-friendly interface makes it well-suited for the handheld. The small menu text is a minor drawback.
ODDADA Steam Deck review score: 4.5/5
Star Trucker Steam Deck Mini Review
Star Trucker blends automobile simulation and space exploration. While not yet Valve-rated, it runs well on Proton Experimental. The game offers a customizable visual experience with 16:10 support, though the controls could benefit from improvement. Despite some rough edges, the unique gameplay loop, visuals, and writing make it an enjoyable experience.
Star Trucker Steam Deck review score: 4/5
DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia Steam Deck Mini Review
DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia, a visual novel, runs flawlessly on Steam Deck, supporting 16:9 at 720p. It's a strong follow-up to Rio Reincarnation, offering a charming story, appealing art, and memorable characters. Check system settings to ensure correct button configuration.
DATE A LIVE: Ren Dystopia Steam Deck Review Score: 4/5
Total War: PHARAOH DYNASTIES Steam Deck Review Impressions
Total War: PHARAOH DYNASTIES, a significantly enhanced version of the original, is playable on Steam Deck, though controller support is currently absent. The game's improved content and features make it a compelling strategy experience, even without optimized controller support.
Pinball FX Steam Deck Impressions
Pinball FX offers a robust PC port with extensive graphics options, including HDR support on Steam Deck. The gameplay is highly enjoyable, and the free-to-play version allows for sampling before purchasing DLC.
New Steam Deck Verified & Playable Games
Notable additions to the Verified and Playable lists include Hookah Haze, OneShot: World Machine Edition, and several others. Black Myth: Wukong’s "Unsupported" status is surprising given its playable performance.
