Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released just a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan input.
Community suggestions ranged from a Smash TV remake to Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed that a Smash TV remake has been internally discussed, and also hinted at a Star Fox-esque project within the "rail game" genre.
While details remain scarce, Arrowhead's active community engagement is evident. Helldivers 2's success, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.
A recent, substantial update boosted Helldivers 2's PS5 player count considerably. The "Omens of Tyranny" expansion, a surprise drop at the 2024 Game Awards, has been well-received. This update introduced the much-anticipated Illuminate enemy faction, a 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps. With a rumored Killzone crossover also in the pipeline, Helldivers 2 is poised for continued success in 2025.
