In Avowed's "Fires in the Mine" side quest, the decision to stop or support Darle significantly impacts rewards. This guide analyzes XP, gold, loot, and narrative consequences to determine the optimal choice.
Supporting Darle: Yields 1026 XP. However, you forfeit any gold reward and further strain relations between Aedyrans and Thirdborn. Attempts to deceive Kada and Seyon about your actions result in the same outcome.
Stopping Darle: Offers superior rewards. Killing Darle grants 212 XP immediately, followed by 879 XP after speaking with the mining officials (total 1091 XP – 65 XP more than supporting him). You also receive 900 gold coins from Seynon and Kada. Looting Darle's corpse yields a Blackwood Branch (a valuable upgrade material), Wild Mushroom Stew, and two Beetle Pies.
While maintaining positive relations between Aedyrans and Thirdborn is narratively beneficial, stopping Darle provides significantly better gameplay rewards. The extra XP, gold, and Blackwood Branch make it the superior choice.
