Just months after the successful launch of the Switzerland expansion, Ticket to Ride enthusiasts can now dive into the vibrant world of Japan. This marks the digital debut of the Japan Expansion, bringing a unique twist to the classic game. Unlike previous versions, success in this expansion hinges not only on individual efforts but on teamwork and collaboration.
The centerpiece of the Japan map is the introduction of the Bullet Train network, a series of high-speed shared routes that players must collectively build and utilize. Failing to contribute to these routes will result in a steep 20-point penalty at the game's end, making cooperation as crucial as competition.
Alongside the strategic gameplay, the expansion introduces two new characters deeply rooted in Japanese culture. Nakanishi Kimiko, a travel blogger, explores Japan's colorful festivals with her loyal dog, while Moriyama Isamu, a Gyoji referee, adds a touch of tradition, connecting players to the country's rich history.
The expansion also enriches the train collection with four new railcars. The Ichi Eki Saki train and Tsuki Sleeper carriage are designed for a more leisurely, scenic journey, whereas the Isogaba Maware train and Hayai carriage are tailored for speed, ideal for navigating Japan's fast-paced routes.
With its launch coinciding with Japan's beautiful springtime sakura season, the Japan Expansion for Ticket to Ride is now available for download at $6.99 or your local equivalent. Click on the link below to get started, and visit the official Facebook page for more details.
