Fans of the long-awaited sequel, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, will have to wait a bit longer as the game's release has been pushed back to October 2025. This latest delay, announced in a recent update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, marks yet another shift in the game's release schedule. Although this delay is smaller compared to previous ones, it pushes the release a few months beyond the previously planned first half of 2025. However, there's a silver lining: the game is now complete.
According to Marco Behrmann, the Executive Producer of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, "The status of the game right now is that the game is done. We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases." This news offers some reassurance to fans eager to dive into the dark and immersive world of the sequel.
Despite the disappointment of another delay, the update video brings positive news as well. The Chinese Room has been busy enhancing the game with more content, deeper narrative, and improved character development. Fans can look forward to an "evolved role" for the character Fabien in the storyline. However, the frequency of updates will decrease moving forward, as announced on the game's official X/Twitter page.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has had a tumultuous development journey since its announcement in 2019. Initially developed by Hardsuit Labs with a planned release in Q1 2020, the game faced multiple delays, pushing the launch to late 2020, then to 2021. In 2021, further delays and layoffs at Hardsuit led to a significant change in 2023 when The Chinese Room took over development, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, after another delay, the game is set to launch in October 2025.
While there's uncertainty about whether Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 will successfully launch this fall, The Chinese Room remains confident. Looking ahead, Paradox has hinted that, should the sequel prove successful, another developer, referred to as "someone else," might take on the development of Bloodlines 3.
