The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Dark Fantasy RPG Unveiled
The recent game reveal event for The Blood of Dawnwalker offered a deeper look into this upcoming open-world dark fantasy action-RPG. Set in the fictional 14th-century medieval European land of Vale Sangora, the game promises a narrative-driven experience.
Meet Coen, the Dawnwalker
Players will embody Coen, a unique protagonist described as emotional, vulnerable, and honest. The reveal trailer showcases Coen's encounter with Brencis, an ancient vampire who has subjugated Vale Sangora. Coen's mission: save his family within a 30-day/night timeframe (though the game's time flow is non-linear). Coen possesses superhuman abilities stemming from his vampiric nature, including enhanced agility and magic manipulation.
Dawnwalkers: More Than Meets the Eye
A key element is the Dawnwalker identity: human by day, vampire by night, but distinct from a simple hybrid. The game's magic system is grounded in the occult, focusing on rituals, amulets, and summonings rather than flamboyant spellcasting. This detail was clarified in the game's official Discord FAQ.
A Narrative Sandbox with Romance Options
Despite Coen's central quest, The Blood of Dawnwalker is designed as a narrative sandbox, prioritizing player agency and offering multiple paths to achieve the main objective. The non-linear storyline and dynamic world react to player choices. To maintain this single-player focus, there will be no multiplayer or co-op. However, the game will feature romanceable characters from various races, including uriashi, kobolds, and potentially werewolves.
Developed by Rebel Wolves, a studio comprised of former CD Projekt Red developers, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release date is yet to be announced.
