Rebel Wolves, a studio established by ex-CD Projekt RED developers, recently unveiled their debut title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, in a captivating livestream. The stream featured a four-minute cinematic trailer, serving as the game's opening narrative sequence, showcasing this dark fantasy action RPG.
Set in a 14th-century alternate Europe, The Blood of Dawnwalker follows Coen, a young man who acquires supernatural abilities after the events depicted in the trailer. His mission: rescue his loved ones from a vampire threat within a strict 30-day timeframe. While time progresses only during specific gameplay segments, careful time management is crucial.
Coen faces a profound moral conflict: embrace his humanity or succumb to his vampiric nature. This pivotal choice significantly impacts both gameplay and the narrative. A key mechanic, Blood Hunger, forces players to strategically manage Coen's blood intake; prolonged abstinence risks uncontrollable bloodlust, potentially resulting in the accidental death of key characters and unforeseen consequences.
Players will explore richly detailed environments with dynamic day-night cycles influencing gameplay. The developers describe the open world as a "narrative sandbox," offering extensive player agency.
Developed over two years using Unreal Engine 5, The Blood of Dawnwalker is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release date is yet to be announced.
