While many *Monster Hunter Wilds* achievements focus on epic monster hunts, one stands out for its unexpected target: the tiny Sandstar. This guide will show you how to snag the elusive "I Caught a Shooting Star" trophy/achievement.
This hidden trophy is deceptively simple yet notoriously difficult to find. The key is capturing the Sandstar, a miniature desert mouse with shimmering fur, found only at night in the Windward Plains. Since the game often leads you through this area during the day, you'll need to manipulate the time of day.
There are two ways to reach nightfall:
Fast Travel: The earliest method. Once you've unlocked multiple fast travel points in the Windward Plains, repeatedly travel between them. This will advance the in-game time until night arrives.
Resting: After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can use Guild Points to rest at a camp and choose "Nighttime." This offers more control over the time and weather.
The Sandstar is small and incredibly fast, even for your Seikret. Before the hunt, consider gathering Screamer Pods from Baunos (winged monsters found in Areas 11 and 13 of the Windward Plains). These pods will stun the Sandstar, making capture easier. While not strictly necessary, they're highly recommended.
Once night falls, search the area between Areas 11 and 13. When you spot the Sandstar, chase it at full speed. Use a Screamer Pod to stun it, then quickly switch to your Capture Net (the same net used for fishing) and snag it. The "I Caught a Shooting Star!" trophy/achievement will unlock instantly, along with the "Ribbon Dream: Amber" nameplate.
And there you have it! You've successfully captured the elusive Sandstar. For more *Monster Hunter Wilds* guides, including how to skip cutscenes, check out our other articles.
