The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, which drew inspiration from the well-known Dark and Darker, have officially announced the cessation of support for the game and the impending closure of its servers. Launched with much anticipation, Dungeonborne unfortunately did not manage to maintain its player base, primarily due to insufficient player engagement and a noticeable absence of substantial updates throughout its less-than-a-year lifespan.
While Dungeonborne's page remains visible on Steam, it has been removed from the platform's search results and can only be accessed via a direct link. Although the official reasons for the game's shutdown remain undisclosed, it's evident that the critically low player numbers were a significant factor. From late 2024 onwards, the game struggled to attract more than 200 concurrent players, with recent figures plummeting to a mere 10-15 active users daily.
The servers for Dungeonborne are scheduled for permanent closure on May 28, effectively concluding the game's journey. This marks the end of a project that, despite its initial promise and appeal to fans of the genre, ultimately failed to reach its full potential and will now recede into gaming history.
