Freedom Wars Remastered: Enhanced Gameplay and New Features Revealed
A new trailer from Bandai Namco showcases the gameplay and significant upgrades in Freedom Wars Remastered. This action RPG, originally a PS Vita exclusive, now boasts enhanced visuals, refined gameplay mechanics, and a wealth of new content for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC players. The game launches January 10th.
The title, a spiritual successor to the Monster Hunter series in its core loop, features battles against colossal mechanical creatures called Abductors. Players harvest materials, upgrade equipment, and undertake missions within a bleak, resource-depleted dystopian world. These missions, ranging from citizen rescue operations to Abductor extermination and control system captures, can be tackled solo or cooperatively online.
The recently released trailer introduces the protagonist, a "Sinner" condemned for the crime of simply existing. Their sentence involves completing missions for their Panopticon, their assigned city-state.
Remastered Enhancements:
Freedom Wars Remastered significantly improves upon its predecessor. Visuals are dramatically upgraded, reaching 4K resolution (2160p) at 60 FPS on PS5 and PC. PS4 players will enjoy 1080p at 60 FPS, while the Switch version runs at 1080p, 30 FPS. Gameplay is faster-paced due to enhanced movement speed, streamlined combat, and new attack cancellation mechanics.
The crafting and upgrade systems receive a complete overhaul, featuring more intuitive interfaces and freely attachable/detachable modules. A new module synthesis feature allows players to enhance their gear using resources obtained from rescued citizens. A challenging "Deadly Sinner" difficulty mode caters to experienced players, and all original customization DLC from the PS Vita release is included from the outset.
