Capcom's latest Monster Hunter Wilds Showcase provided an exciting glimpse into what's coming to this thrilling installment of the Monster Hunter series. With the spotlight on Title Update 1, fans can look forward to a plethora of new content, including free and paid DLC, a new hub for socializing, fresh armor and cosmetic options, and the introduction of new, formidable monsters.
Title Update 1 is slated for release on April 4, 2025, and will be a free update for all Monster Hunter Wilds players. Alongside this update, Capcom will also launch a variety of DLC options, enhancing the game with both free and premium content. Players can explore the new hub, which promises to be a social hotspot where hunters can feast, arm wrestle, enjoy performances by the Diva, and participate in the Barrel Bowling mini-game to earn vouchers and rewards. This new hub, called the Grand Hub, becomes accessible once players reach Hunter Rank 16 and speak to Tetsuzan in Suja, the Peaks of Accord.
A New Hub For Hunters
The showcase kicked off with a detailed look at the Grand Hub, an endgame area designed for hunting parties. Here, players can engage in various activities like feasting together, arm wrestling, or enjoying the Diva's nightly performances. The Barrel Bowling mini-game offers another way to earn vouchers and rewards, making the Grand Hub a lively place for hunters to unwind and prepare for their next adventure.
Mizutsune Arrives
A highlight of Title Update 1 is the introduction of Mizutsune, the bubbly monster known for its swift tail strikes and water jets. Players at Hunter Rank 21 or above can embark on this new challenge by heading to the Scarlet Forest and speaking with Kanya. Successfully hunting Mizutsune will reward players with new gear to craft, adding to the excitement of the update.
Additional Hunts on the Way
Monster Hunter Wilds will also introduce an Event Quest featuring Arch-tempered Rey Dau, a monster that promises a challenging fight for players at Hunter Rank 50 or above. Those who triumph will be rewarded with new armor. Additionally, players will have the chance to re-fight Zoh Shia, previously a one-time encounter in the main story, now available through new quests at HR 50, with new armor to craft upon victory.
Arena Quests
Speedrunners will find their niche with the introduction of Arena Quests, where they can compete for the fastest clear times. Both Challenge Quests and Free Challenge Quests will be available, with pendants awarded for participation and achievement. These can be accessed through the counter in the Grand Hub.
Change Alma's Outfit
The hardworking handler Alma is getting some well-deserved attention with new cosmetic options. Players can change Alma's attire through an appearance menu at camp, with one outfit available for free. Completing a specific side mission also allows players to switch out Alma's glasses, adding a personal touch to the game.
More DLC is on the way
In addition to Title Update 1, a mix of free and paid DLC will be released. Classic gestures from previous Monster Hunter games will be freely available, while the Cosmetic DLC Pack 1 and other items can be purchased through the store or are included with the Cosmetic DLC Pass or Premium Deluxe Edition. New stickers and looks for Alma are among the exciting additions.
More Event Quests and Seasonal Events
Capcom is also planning more Event Quests and Seasonal Events, which will transform the Grand Hub's appearance and offer limited-time equipment, gestures, and decorations. The first Seasonal Event, the Festival of Accord: Blossomdance, starts on April 23, featuring pink cherry blossoms and new decor. Capcom has confirmed that most previous events and Event Quests will return in the future.
The Roadmap Ahead
The rollout of Title Update 1 and its related content is scheduled as follows: Title Update 1 arrives on April 3 for U.S. players, with the Blossomdance event starting on April 22. The challenging Arch-tempered Rey Dau arrives on April 29, and by the end of May, additional features and a Capcom collaboration will be introduced.
Monster Hunter Wilds Title Update 2
The showcase concluded with a tease of Title Update 2, set to arrive this summer. While no specific date was announced, a brief image hinted at the possible return of Lagiacrus, the underwater leviathan, promising more thrilling encounters on the surface.
