Speculation about Starfield coming to PlayStation 5 intensified over the weekend after eagle-eyed fans noticed a PlayStation logo on Bethesda’s official Creations website. The logo was linked to a work-in-progress ship decals Creation for Starfield, but it was quickly removed. However, the brief appearance has fueled rumors that Bethesda’s sci-fi RPG, which has been exclusive to PC and Xbox, might soon be available on PS5.
They have added the Playstation logo to a creation. (I think they are beta testers, the logo only appears on one creation)

This development has led to speculation about whether Bethesda plans to launch a significant content update, or even a new expansion, alongside a potential PS5 release for Starfield. The game has been relatively quiet since the lukewarm reception of the Shattered Space expansion. With Microsoft, Bethesda's parent company, expected to host a summer showcase, this could be the perfect opportunity to reveal more about Starfield's future.
Bethesda has hinted at "exciting things" planned for Starfield in 2024, amid growing frustration from players over the lack of communication and updates. In June 2024, Bethesda reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Starfield, promising at least one more story expansion following Shattered Space. In an interview with YouTube channel MrMattyPlays, Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard mentioned the goal of releasing an annual story expansion for Starfield "for hopefully a very long time."

Starfield was released in September 2023, marking Bethesda’s first new intellectual property in years and its first mainline single-player game since Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax Media in March 2021. IGN’s Starfield review gave it a 7/10, stating: “Starfield has a lot of forces working against it, but eventually the allure of its expansive roleplaying quests and respectable combat make its gravitational pull difficult to resist.”
In January, Microsoft’s gaming chief Phil Spencer did not rule out a PS5 release for Starfield. Reports from March 2024 suggested that both Starfield and MachineGames’ Indiana Jones and the Great Circle were being considered for PS5. While Indiana Jones has been confirmed for PS5 with a spring 2025 release, Starfield remains unconfirmed, though Spencer's comments hint at its possibility.
Several Xbox titles are already available on PS5, including Rare’s Sea of Thieves, Tango Gameworks’ Hi-Fi Rush, and Obsidian’s Grounded and Pentiment. Microsoft also publishes Minecraft on PlayStation, alongside numerous other platforms, and plans to release Doom: The Dark Ages and Ninja Gaiden 4 on PS5 later this year. Forza Horizon 5 from Playground Games is also set to come to PS5 soon. There are even rumors that Microsoft might finally bring Halo to PlayStation after years of exclusivity.

Phil Spencer has explained that Xbox's move towards multiplatform releases is driven by the need to increase revenue for Microsoft’s gaming division, especially following the significant $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
“We run a business,” Spencer said in August last year. “It’s definitely true inside of Microsoft the bar is high for us in terms of the delivery we have to give back to the company. Because we get a level of support from the company that’s just amazing and what we’re able to go do.
“So I look at this, how can we make our games as strong as possible? Our platform continues to grow, on console, on PC, and on cloud. It’s just going to be a strategy that works for us.”
Bethesda Game Studios, with its 450-person team, is currently managing five projects: Starfield, Elder Scrolls 6, Fallout 76, mobile games, and external development partnerships.
