Freedom Wars Remastered: A Deep Dive into Weapon Types
Freedom Wars Remastered allows players to equip two weapons of their choice for each Operation, offering diverse strategic options. With six distinct weapon types, players can tailor their character to any preferred playstyle. The three melee and three ranged weapon types all boast unique characteristics and customization options. New weapons are acquired through completing operations or purchasing them from Zakka in The Warren. While Comrade weapon choices are fixed, players have complete control over their Accessory's weapon. Switching weapons incurs no penalties.
Here's a breakdown of each weapon type:
Weapon Type | Traits |
---|---|
Light Melee | Quick attacks, ideal for rapid combat against single targets. Can sever Abductor limbs without a Flare Knife. |
Heavy Melee | Wide-ranging attacks inflicting high damage. Well-placed attacks multiply damage by hitting multiple limbs. Charged attacks launch the user into the air. Slightly reduces movement speed. |
Polearm | Attacks involve charging through enemies, providing mobility and evasion. Charged attacks launch the polearm for significant ranged damage. |
Assault Weapons | High ammo capacity, suitable as a primary weapon for ranged builds. Can be fired while grappled using your Thorne for advantageous positioning. |
Portable Artillery | High single-shot damage but low ammo capacity. Explosive area-of-effect shots can hit multiple limbs for increased damage. Reduces movement speed. |
Autocannons | High rate of fire, large ammo capacity and magazine size. Individual shots have low damage, but the high fire rate compensates. Reduces movement speed. |
Note that Accessories using ranged weapons are not limited by ammo.
