Elden Ring: Nightreign will omit the in-game messaging feature previously found in other FromSoftware titles. Project director Junya Ishizaki explained this decision in a recent interview, citing the game's shorter play sessions. Nightreign's approximately forty-minute gameplay sessions leave insufficient time for players to effectively send or read messages.
"Given the roughly forty-minute session length," Ishizaki stated, "there isn't enough time to utilize the messaging feature, so we disabled it."
This departure from FromSoftware's tradition of message-based player interaction is noteworthy. While messages have historically enhanced player experience and interactivity in previous games, the development team deemed the feature unsuitable for Nightreign's design.
To maintain the integrity of the original Elden Ring, Nightreign features an independent narrative. However, it promises a new adventure within a familiar atmosphere, offering unique challenges and encounters that stay true to the spirit of the Elden Ring world.
